Becoming Scholarship Holder

Dear students,

dear prospective students,

The University of Bremen awards approximately 100 scholarships every year in the winter semester within the framework of the Deutschlandstipendium. The amount of the scholarship is 300 Euro per month.

The scholarship awarding process for the winter semester 2024/ 2025 is now complete. The application procedures for the 2025/2026 academic year will take place in the summer of 2025:
The application period for continued funding for scholarship holders is expected to take place from July 1 to 31, 2025.
The application period for new scholarships is expected to take place from August 1 to 31, 2025.
Please refer to the instructions for new and further funding in the download area and the FAQ.

The Deutschlandstipendium is intended to support committed and qualified students who "have a great potential due to their previous commitment and career, taking into account social, family and personal circumstances, and who have already shown or have already provided outstanding achievements in their studies or professional life", Scholarship Regulations of the University of Bremen.

Those eligible to apply for a scholarship:

  1. Students of the University of Bremen who are enrolled as regular students and are studying within the standard period of study or
  2. have an admission/enrollment confirmation for the commencement of studies leading to a bachelor's degree, a master's degree or a state examination in law (Applicants for study places and master's study places can submit the admission letter or confirmation of enrollment by September 15).

The scholarship is independent of BAföG or the income situation. Only students, who already receive a financial support for a talent or a performance dependent by a public or publicly supported institution in Germany or abroad in the amount of more than 30 Euro per month, are excluded from funding by the Deutschlandstipendium.

In addition to the monthly scholarship of 300 Euros, the scholarship holders can expect an attractive accompanying program. An active participation in the scholarship holder groups and interest in exchanging ideas with the scholarship sponsors are expected.
