(salary level 13 TV-L with 50% of the weekly working hours)
for the field of
Research into Language Teaching and Learning
The fixed term is for academic qualification in accordance with Section 2 (1) WissZeitVG (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz). Accordingly, only applicants who still have the corresponding number of qualification periods in accordance with Section 2 (1) WissZeitVG can be considered.

The Bremen research group investigates all areas around language learning, teaching, and assessment. We also examine multilingualism and pluriculturality, languages for specific purposes, and language learning, teaching and assessment in adult and higher education contexts.
A particular focus lies on language assessment. The advertised position is part of the Language Assessment @ Bremen group. Our multidisciplinary and international group consists of researchers and language practitioners, and we cooperate with international testing and research institutions. Your responsibilities:
- Research responsibilities:
- Conducting a doctoral dissertation project in the field of language learning, teaching and assessment, focusing preferably on language assessment r one of the aforementioned research areas.
- Supportive and proactive participation in the development and coordination of research projects and networks; the organisation of guest lectures, conferences and other academic activities; academic publications and the acquisition of third-party funding.
- Teaching responsibilities:
- Academic services in teaching currently amounting to one seminar (2 hrs./semester week), (including imparting specialist knowledge and practical skills, instruction in the application of research methods in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs to the extent of the applicable regulation, teaching export)

- Responsibilities in academic self-administration, inter alia committee work and other university duties if applicable.
Requirements
- completed MA / M.Ed. degree (or equivalent, passed with distinction) in the fields of Language Learning and Teaching, Language Testing and Assessment, Applied Linguistics, Didactics of Foreign Languages (preferably English or German as Foreign/Second Language), or Plurilingual / Pluricultural Education;
- high proficiency in German and English (minimum requirement CEFR level C1 in one of the two languages, B2 in the other);
- pedagogical suitability;
- independent working style and organisational competences;
- team-working, cooperation and communication skills.
Furthermore, your profile would be positively complemented by
- Engagement during your studies with one or more of the following areas: assessing language proficiency; developing and assessing plurilingual / pluricultural competences; teaching and learning languages in higher/adult education; quality assurance in the foreign language classroom; teaching, learning and assessing languages for specific purposes; as well as
- demonstration of skills in a further language.
