Enhanced three-level competency-based curricula in Applied Marine Science
Description:
eMaris aims the development and implementation of internationally recognized competency-based three cycle curricula and syllabi in Applied Marine Science according to the best Bologna practices, implement a new collaboration platform for learning and academic environment, enhance the syllabi for Applied Marine Science with innovative learning methods using ICT (mobile lectures, e- &m-learning modules). The collaboration platform will be used during the three educational cycles (Bachelor/Master/Doctor) in order to enhance networking among higher education and research institutions across the partner countries and EU member states.
The overall wider objective, to which the project will contribute, is to continue the reform of the system of higher education in the area of Applied Marine Science (AMS) in Russian Federation to comply with Bologna Declaration and according to the demands of Strategic Framework for European Cooperation in Education and Training (ET 2020), aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of educational process.
The significance of the reorganization of the educational process in the AMC is related to the increasing relevance of environmental issues and ecology that are directly reflected in Russian priorities of TEMPUS program. Global environmental change and economic development of society are closely related to each other. Negative changes in ecosystem caused by human activity can lead to serious consequences for future generations. Only competently trained professionals, who understand the relationship between theoretical and practical multidiscipline problems of AMS can find the correct and adequate solution of these problems. Training of such specialists should be based on the latest achievements obtained in world practice.
