The Competence Center for Clinical Trials Bremen (KKSB) is a joint institution of the University of Bremen and the Clinic Bremen-Mitte in the Gesundheit Nord gGmbH. The KKSB was founded in June 2001 by the conclusion of a general agreement between the Clinic and the University for Mutual Cooperation in clinical research, quality assurance and advancement of medical care quality as well as further topics of common interest.

The goal of the Competence Center is to enhance medical research on a high scientific and organisational level in the region and beyond. In addition to own and cooperative research, the Center stands for advice, support of planning, conducting and evaluation of clinical trials as well as the preparation of professional trainings. This is shown by a wide range of counselling and support to clinical researchers. This is also supported by regularly performance of training for investigators and GCP-courses.

The Center offers the infrastructure and professional knowhow for the conduction of clinical studies to medical staff and scientists in life science and healthcare who are involved in clinical research. By this means the KKSB is involved in a number of national and internal studies.

The KKSB is essentially involved in the International Master's programme Medical Biometry/Biostatistics.
