Our IT apprenticeship areas

The Center of Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM / Drop Tower Bremen) operates several numeric computer clusters and various virtual servers for the research and technical staff and those in administration.
Administrative Unit 54 is responsible for IT support in the academic areas of the University of Bremen. Our work areas are the server- and workstations, which use a wide variety of operating systems and applications. IT specialist: Application development
IT specialists in the area of application development test existing applications, adapt them, improve them, and develop user interfaces that meet the needs of the application. In addition, they remedy errors by using expert or diagnostic systems and advise and train users.
Duties include:
Creating, implementing, and maintaining software
Drafting test concepts
Creating software documentation
Implementing user training
The vocational training takes three years.
Requirements:
Basic experience with PCs and PC applications
Good school grades in English, German, and mathematics
Interest in solving problems
Flexibility and ability to work in a team
Reliability, commitment, and ambition

IT specialist: System integration
IT specialists in the area of system integration ensure that IT systems work. They install and network devices from smartphones to servers – often in heterogeneous networks. In this way, they provide and keep important communication channels available. They support users with technical issues and solve IT problems that occur quickly and with flexibility.
Duties include:
Planning and configuring systems for information and telecommunications technology
Setting up, managing, and operating IT systems based on customer requirements
Analyzing and troubleshooting for malfunctions that occur
Advising users with regard to selecting and using IT systems
Creating system documentation
Implementing computer training
The vocational training takes three years and is conducted in part in cooperation with privately-owned companies in the context of a collaborative training venture.
Requirements:
Interest in working with computers and basic technical understanding
Above average school grades in the natural sciences, mathematics and English

Degree apprenticeship in informatics
Our degree apprenticeship in informatics is a practice-oriented and academic-based apprenticeship in a company and at the University of Bremen or the University of Applied Sciences. This degree apprenticeship in informatics combines the vocational training for an IT specialist in the area of system integration with a simultaneous course of study in computer science at the University of Bremen or Bremen City University of Applied Sciences. A Bachelor of Science degree is awarded.
Duties include:
Planning and configuring systems for information and telecommunications technology
Setting up, managing, and operating IT systems based on customer requirements
Analyzing and troubleshooting for malfunctions that occur
Advising users with regard to selecting and using IT systems
Creating system documentation
Implementing computer training
The vocational training takes four years.
Requirements:
At least a qualification for entrance to a university of applied sciences
Interest in working with computers and basic technical understanding
Above average school grades in mathematics and English
