Laboratory assistant

The vocational training for laboratory assistants at the University of Bremen is conducted by the training center for laboratory assistants in close cooperation with natural scientists, engineers, and technicians at Ausbildungszentrum für Laboranten.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Carrying out biochemical experiments

  • Carrying out experiments in the area of genetic engineering

  • Planning and documenting this work using computer systems specific to the laboratory

  • Analyzing experiment results

The vocational training takes three-and-a-half years.

Requirements:

  • Interest in the natural sciences

  • Meticulous and precise way of working

  • Good school grades in chemistry, biology, mathematics, and English

  • Enjoy working with computers and technical equipment

  • Enjoy working with people

Chemistry laboratory assistant

The vocational training for laboratory assistants at the University of Bremen is conducted by the training center for laboratory assistants in close cooperation with natural scientists, engineers, and technicians at Ausbildungszentrum für Laboranten.

  • Qualitative and quantitative investigation of substances and mixtures of substances by applying chemical, biological, and physical analytical methods and by using complex, computer-controlled analytical equipment

  • Carrying out biotechnical and cell culture related tasks

  • Making and characterizing inorganic and organic preparations

The vocational training takes three years.

Duties include:

  • Production and photolithographic structuring of thin layers

  • Deep lithographic etching

  • Microelectroplating

  • Using assembly and joining techniques

The vocational training takes three years.

Requirements:

  • Enjoy technical and manual tasks

  • Good school grades in physics and chemistry

  • Meticulous way of working
