Anti-Discrimination and Diversity
The University of Bremen strives to align teaching and learning methods, counseling and support services as well as staffing and teams in all status groups in such a way that they reflect the diversity of society and thus pave the way for successful individual participation – irrespective of gender, ethnicity, impairment(s), social background, sexual orientation, world view, age, or family commitments.
Various offices and interest groups are active in this field. Our main focuses are:
- accompaniment and initiation of processes for breaking down structural barriers
- formulation of recommendations for increasing equal opportunity
- development and implementation strategies to promote the diversity of people and staff at the university
We believe that within hierarchical structures discrimination can never be completely prevented, but that its occurrence can be critically reflected on. Therefore, our aim is to create an environment that is as free from discrimination and barriers as possible. At the same time, we see diversity as a prerequisite as well as the basis for quality and innovation in teaching and research.
We are active in the areas of consulting, process development and support as well as networking. Our activities include the design and implementation of various programs, continuing education programs as well as formats of empowerment for specific target groups. We want to contribute to integrating our topic as a cross-sectional task at the university.
If you encounter any barriers or ambiguities when reading our pages, we would like to know about it and we welcome your comments: diversityprotect me ?!uni-bremenprotect me ?!.de.
