Welcome to the Didactics of Mathematics working group
Dear visitors,
welcome to the website of the Didactics of Mathematics in Secondary Education working group at the University of Bremen.
Many years of experience in school practice, in the promotion of learners and in the pre- and in-service training of teachers, diverse experiences in mathematical and mathematical didactic research come together in our Didactics of Mathematics working group. We use the diversity of our expertise to learn with and from each other in the context of teacher training and mathematics didactics research. Our common research interest is to gain more theoretical and practical insight into processes of mathematical knowledge construction and the conditions that promote and hinder them.
The central principle in our teacher training is to interweave theoretical and practical knowledge as closely as possible. This means
- involving students in mathematics didactics research as early as possible,
- the incorporation of research findings into practical training,
- incorporating practical experience into elementary mathematics and mathematics didactics teacher training, and
- didactically enriched elementary mathematics teacher training.
As a working group that is integrated into a larger institution, we contribute to communication with other working groups by participating in our university's self-administration.
