Senator Moosdorf visited us at the Digital Media Lab

In June, Ms. Moosdorf, Bremen's Senator for Climate, Environment and Science, visited us in the Digital Media Lab to get an impression of our work in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR).

We presented her a selection of our projects in this context:

Vivatop: A system to support surgeons. The project, which was originally funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, aimed to design applications using VR/AR and 3D printing to effectively support the planning and execution of operations as well as training and further education scenarios.

AI-supported fitness training: In a study called Big Three 100, movement data from the bench press, squat and deadlift exercises is being collected, which will later be used as training data for research into AI assistance systems in weight training.

hyBit (Hydrogen for Bremen's Industrial Transformation): Students from the EnergyShift project, a bachelor project and part of the hyBit research project, have presented applications in the field of climate change: At a touch table, users can explore Bremen's city center and determine where it makes sense to install solar cells. Another application uses an AR app to provide users with information on energy consumption and generation in typical residential buildings.

The latter was of course of particular interest to Ms. Moosdorf in view of her responsibility for climate and the environment.
