BAföG training allowance - What changes in relation to my BAföG entitlement?
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research has stipulated that "Students who depend on benefits under the Federal Education Promotion Act (BAföG) should not suffer any financial disadvantages if lectures or lessons at your training center are temporarily canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic or the beginning of the semester is completely postponed.

More information here: www.bmbf.de/de/faq-ausbildungsfoerderung-und-corona-rise-11215.html

Specifically, this means that, on the one hand, you don't have to worry about the corona crisis affecting your BAföG eligibility. You can now be eligible for BAföG if your income or that of your dependent parents / partners has changed.

Scholarships
There are many scholarships and also some foundations that currently support students in need. Think again about applying for a scholarship. Even outside the current crisis, a scholarship is a good way to finance your studies. Also beyond financial support, because many scholarship providers offer their scholarship holders exciting additional educational opportunities and interesting networks.

Bridging aid "grant" (federal government)

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has provided a bridging aid to the German Student Union amounting to 100 million euros. These are made available to the student services on site. This money is intended to help those students who can be proven to be in a particularly acute emergency who need immediate help and cannot avail themselves of any other support. You can receive a monthly grant of between € 100 and € 500 from the state for the months of June, July and August 2020. You have to apply for a new one every three months and it depends on your individual needs. Enrolled students at a state or state-recognized university can apply for bridging assistance from June 16, 2020 at www.ueberbrueckungshilfe-studierende.de. The responsible student union decides on the guidelines, the application and the approval of a grant from the bridging aid (grant).
