Tasks (pursuant to Bremisches Hochschulgesetz BremHG [Bremen University Act] & Grundordnung [statutes] of the University of Bremen)
- passes resolutions regarding recommendations for establishing and closing down institutes and study programs
- passes resolutions regarding examination regulations
- forms appointments and habilitation committees and implements appointments procedures
- formulates statements on budget plans submitted by the Office of the Dean
- formulates statements on budgetary and staff planning
- passes resolutions regarding budgetary principles
- votes on research projects
- appoints subcommittees or boards with special tasks, e.g. the QM Committee
