Theses

Dear students,

On the following pages you will find a series of suggested topics for your seminar, Bachelor's or Master's thesis at the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Finance. The list is intended as an example. Your own topic suggestions are explicitly desired. If you decide on a suggested topic or subject area, please contact the supervisors listed. You are also welcome to suggest topics yourself. In this case, you must prepare an exposé in advance. The main purpose of the synopsis is to enable you and your supervisor to critically examine the topic's suitability and workability before registering. Your synopsis should contain the following on at least 2 pages:

  • Preliminary topic
  • Preliminary introduction to the thesis:
    • Problem definition
    • Relevance of the problem
    • Focus and critique of the research
    • Objectives of the work and research questions
    • Planned approach / structure of the thesis and research methodology
  • Preliminary outline
  • Preliminary bibliography
  • Time and task planning

A Bachelor's or Master's thesis should comprise 30 or 60 pages respectively, including all necessary tables and figures. Any indexes (table of contents, list of tables and figures and bibliography) as well as an optional appendix must be added to the page count. The following general formatting guidelines apply:

  • the line spacing in the text is 1.5 line
  • the font to be used is Times New Roman, font size 12, justified with hyphenation
  • margins: 3.5 cm left, 1.5 cm right, 2.5 cm top and 2 cm bottom
