The Career Center at the University of Bremen has installed a mobile PC terminal on the campus boulevard; a convenient way for students to search for jobs online. This new opportunity means that anyone passing by or on their way to the dining hall can go online and check out job opportunities, work placements and even possibilities for studying abroad. It will, however, only function during the Center’s usual office hours.
If you would like to find out more about this service, Petra Droste or any member of her team at the Job Center will be more than happy to offer advice: “We are happy to provide this extra service for students. They just have to log in to the Jobportal to check the new offers available”, says the head of the Job Center.
The new terminal is yet another project financed out of funds provided by alumni of the University of Bremen. As result of a telephone campaign in summer 2007, a large number of alumni expressed their willingness to support their alma mater in word and deed. Meanwhile, more than 10,000 euros has been donated to the fund for “a more livable“ campus and projects to facilitate career starts.
