Law and More: Taster Courses for School Pupils

What subject should I study? A question that becomes more and more acute the nearer pupils come to school leaving age. The University of Bremen offers school leavers to-be practical advice and support – and even taster courses in a number of subjects. In Summer Semester 2011, for instance, young people interested in studying law will be able to get first-hand advice on studies and career opportunities from law practitioners and law faculty, who once again will be offering a bridge course in law studies. The course will be led by Professor Felix Herzog and Dr. Nicole Krumdiek. If you are interested, you have time to register until 21st March 2011.

The course addresses 11th to 12th grade pupils in Bremen and Bremerhaven. The theory part is covered by attending lectures at the University of Bremen on civil, penal, public and European law. Participants will be given a taste of legal practice by observing day-to-day court proceedings and they will also have the chance to speak with judges, lawyers, public prosecutors and politicians. The bridge course will take place between 4th May and 6th July 2011. More information on the content and how to register can be found at www.brueckenkurs.uni-bremen.de.

Besides this, other taster courses in the disciplines of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering will take place at the beginning of the Easter holidays on Tuesday and Wednesday 27th and 28th  April 2011. Another opportunity for school pupils to gain an insight into university studies and take part in lectures and exercises is to participate in the lecture series EINBLICKE [INSIGHTS]. There are EINBLICKE courses in the following subjects:
•    Chemistry
