On 21st May 2013, Joachim Gauck, the German Federal President, will be paying a visit to Bremen. To round off the day, the town will hold a reception in the upper rooms of the City Hall to which prominent local personalities will be invited. The evening program will begin with a rendering of musical pieces by the University choir led by its musical director, Dr. Susanne Gläß. In keeping with the internationality of the town of Bremen and its University, the choir will be performing a piece entitled "Güzelleme" by the contemporary Turkish composer, Hasan Uçarsu.

The University choir maintains many contacts around the world. Over the past few years, for instance, it has cooperated on performances by choirs from Poland, Namibia, Ukraine and Turkey. Currently, the choir is making preparations for a concert tour of China and for the visit of two Chinese ensembles to Bremen. On 21st June, Open Campus Day, the 45-member "Orchestra of Chinese Folk Music" from the Ocean University of China, Qingdao, will be performing at Haus am Walde: The concert will begin at 7.00 p.m. A second concert will take place on Sunday 23rd June in the church Unser Lieben Frauen.
