It was no different in years past: Student parents have always had to perform a balancing act between family and their studies. That is why 30 years ago a group of young student parents founded the association “Uni-Kita” [university daycare facility] at the University of Bremen. To mark the occasion of its round birthday, the association is inviting guests to a celebration to be held on Friday 15th June 2012. Between 3.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. there will be a colorful program for the whole family: Creativity workshop, a children’s labyrinthine pathway, therapy cave, a multi-cultural buffet, and a picture exhibition covering the period from 1982 to 2012. The event will take place on the Uni-Kita premises in Barbara-McClintock-Str. 1.

Meanwhile, the daycare facility accommodates around 50 children between one and three years old. Uni-Kita is reserved for the children of students and staff of the University of Bremen. With educational offers the daycare facility supports child development and makes it possible for parents to combine family and studies as well as family and career.

As an independent utility provider, Uni-Kita represents a concept that focuses on children’s individual education and upbringing, each child being treated individually and receiving accordant support. Targeted offers in movement, music, nature, language and communication motivate independent experimentation, thus promoting sensory perception.
