WHY does Fraunhofer MEVIS magnetize the people of Bremen?

HERE’S WHY – Medicine employs various methods of looking inside the human body safely. The most effective and also most complex technique is magnetic resonance tomography (MRT). In this procedure, a strong magnetic field targets several atoms in the human body. The body itself is only slightly magnetized. Its own magnetization is used to generate meaningful images of the inside of the body. At Fraunhofer MEVIS we are working on developing new methods for producing detailed images in a shorter period of time.

WHY is there a bit of the University of Bremen at Fraunhofer MEVIS?

HERE’S WHY – The MR tomograph at Fraunhofer MEVIS is operated and used jointly with the university. Through joint professorships, Fraunhofer MEVIS is closely connected to the Physics/Electrical Engineering and Mathematics/Computer Science faculties. In addition to their studies, students at the University of Bremen also have the opportunity to actively work on Fraunhofer MEVIS research projects as part of their bachelor’s or master’s theses.
