Those interested in research should contact one of the department’s senior teaching staff with a PhD proposal. Ideally your project should be in one of the Department’s four main areas of research strength. You can find out more by attending one of the faculty staff’s open consultation hours. The essential prerequisite to being accepted as a PhD student is the binding promise of supervision from a member of teaching staff. PhD procedures at the University of Bremen are dealt with by the various departments or faculties. The PhD Committee Dr. Phil. is responsible for making decisions on admissions as a PhD student.
The formal prerequisites regarding study Diplomas and grades as well as procedures for applying are all set out in the PhD Regulations Statute. Information on relevant forms and documentation can be found on the official webpage of the Head Office of the Examination Board.
