An enlightening insight into the fundamental evolution of a research project was provided through the presentation titled "Supporting AI-Based Innovations – A Journey of a Qualitative Study" delivered by Professor Dr. Tobias Röth on 23rd October 2024. At the center of the discourse was the research process of a qualitative study that he had co-conducted. Extensive interview data was a significant component of this study, which, after undergoing considerable modification in scope and corresponding research questions, was eventually analyzed in detail. This remarkable transformation process resulted in refreshing outcomes and findings.
Attending the Brownbag Seminar Series for the first time as a new PhD student, I found this session to be extremely informative. What I found personally beneficial was the understanding of the various stages involved in the paper's research process and gaining insight into the researcher’s decision-making criteria for upcoming initiatives. It was enriching to observe firsthand how all these elements contribute to and shape the final product, an insightful and relevant research paper.
Professor Dr. Tobias Röth facilitated a deeper understanding by outlining various alternative approaches that a qualitative research study can undertake and offering his expert recommendations. This methodological revelation gave me a unique opportunity to empathize with and immerse myself in the research process. This example will undoubtedly serve as an invaluable reference for my academic journey.
In conclusion, the session was both inspiring and reaffirming. It strengthened my methodological understanding of qualitative research approaches and reinforced my conviction to persist through any changes and uncertainties that might present themselves in order to make significant contributions to my dissertation and, ultimately, to the research landscape.
