09:00 | Arrival and Registration |
09:30 | Welcome and Introduction |
10:00 | Session 1: How do Core Facilities contribute to their host institutions? The impact that Core Facilities have on the scientific output of their host institutions can be difficult to quantify. This session aims to promote examples of Core Facilities successfully contributing to research and / or teaching activities. Additionally, ideas for the quantification of Core Facilities’ value will be presented. Keynote (25’+10’) Pitch your Core Facility (10’) |
12:30 | Lunch break |
14:00 | Session 2: Managing a Core Facility Administrating available instrumentation, billing its usage, financing new equipment, repairs, and personnel is the central task of a Core Facility. Different solutions including their advantages and disadvantages will be discussed. Keynote (40’+10’) Up to five contributed talks (20’+5’) |

27 February 2025 - Thursday
09:00 | Session 3: Scientific Advances made at Core Facilities In this session, participants will present the advances in materials science enabled by their Core Facilities. Keynote (40’+10’) Up to five contributed talks (20’+5’) |
12:30 | Lunch break |
14:00 | Session 4: Data Management in Materials Science Managing research data responsibly and FAIR is an increasingly important task for Core Facilities. We will exchange on best practices and discuss how institutions like Core Facilities can work together to improve data management, e.g. by creating common standards for metadata storage. Up to six talks (30’+10’) |
