Campus Award for More Sustainability
The 3,000 Euro Prize ‘Campus Award: Research for a Sustainable Future’ has been awarded to Dr. Georg Pesch and Julian Engel this year. A student of the ‘International Studies of Aquatic Tropical Ecosystems (ISATEC)’ degree of the Leibniz Center for Marine Tropical Research (ZMT), Julian Engel initiated a marine conservation area in the Philippines in his master’s thesis. Georg Pesch’s dissertation in the field of process engineering mainly deals with better recycling methods for precious metals. The Campus Award is made by the Kellner+Stoll Foundation together with other partners, among others the alumni association. “We do not only support the award ideationally but also financially, which would not be possible without our members,” says Fabio Nicoletti, who was part of the jury on behalf of the alumni association, during a video chat. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the award ceremony had to be cancelled.
