The Bremen Institute for Structural Mechanics and Production Systems (bime) is an institute of the University of Bremen. It was established in mid-2008 from the merger of the three departments of Manufacturing Facilities, Engineering Mechanics - Structural Mechanics and Production Design at the Department of Production Engineering - Mechanical and Process Engineering.

Employees of the bime conduct research in national and international projects as well as alliances, work in basic research and industrial research cooperations. In its research, the bime deals with the development and operation of production plants, from basic mechanical design, mechatronic components and control technology to plant operation and production logistics.
