At The 23rd International Federation for Information Processing – International Conference on Entertainment Computing (IFIP-ICEC 2024), our colleagues Ameneh Asafari and Mehrdad Bahrini presented their respective papers. Together with Prof. Rainer Malaka, they visited the conference from 30th of September till 3rd of Oktober in Manaus/Amazon, Brasil.

Ameneh introduced her paper From Pixels to Feelings: Exploring Game Elements for Eliciting Empathy toward Refugees, which analyzes commercial games and their ratings and shows that mechanics such as decision-based consequences and branching narratives promote empathy.

Mehrdad presented his work Empowering User Security Awareness and Risk Assessment within Gamified Smartphone Environment, which aims to enable users to improve awareness and assess risks regarding security through smartphone games.
