June 2019
Every two years the University of Bremen opens its doors to interested citizens with the Open Campus. On this day, the CRC 1232 presented the exciting field of materials research. The opportunities for a direct conversation with scientists and to obtain a "materials driving licence" were very well received by the visitors.

The 2nd year of "Schule in Farbigen Zuständen" is completed and the summer holidays are just around the corner. This time, our special science class invited us to the Wilhelm-Focke-Oberschule to review all modules with them and celebrate the successful implementation. Invited were again the families, teachers, representatives of the school authorities and of course us - the employees of the Collaborative Research Centre.

"Astronomy" was the topic of the scientific experience days of the Klaus Tschira Foundation "Explore Science" held in Bremen's Bürgerpark from 30.08. - 01.09.2018. The researchers of the CRC offered workshops for children in this context. In good weather and with a lot of fun we went together to search for suitable materials for a spaceship repair.

Summer Semester 2018
In the summer semester 2018, the CRC 1232 offered a lecture series for students for the first time. In a total of 13 lectures, students received a broad overview of the basics of interdisciplinary research and insights into the subject-specific challenges.

Time flies so fast! Already the first year of "Schule in Farbigen Zuständen" is over. A good opportunity to have a relaxed look back at all modules. Together with parents, teachers, employees of the Collaborative Research Centre and guests, the cooperation class celebrated the successfully implemented first school year 2017/2018 in a big group.

What connects art and science is human curiosity and imagination! We got involved with students of the Wandsbek Art School in an attempt of a different kind. How do they, as "non-scientific" students, see the scientific work of the CRC? In the thematic framework "Dem Zufall System geben " ("Giving System to Chance") an exciting dialogue between science and art has been created.

Together with the Senator for Children and Education Dr. Claudia Bogedan and the Senator for Science, Health and Consumer Protection Prof. Dr. Eva Quante-Brandt, 400 students, teachers of the Wilhelm-Focke-Oberschule and employees of the SFB 1232 celebrated the official start of the joint project.
