The Bremen Senate has called upon the people of Bremen to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of right-wing extremist violence. The University of Bremen is to follow this appeal.
The minute of silence will start at 12.00 p.m. on 23rd February 2012. Bremen is following a joint appeal for this token of respect issued by the Confederation of German Employers and the Association of German Trade Unions. The two organizations point out that the time has come to take a stance against the inhuman violence practiced by extreme right-wing elements.
At the same time on 23rd of February, a state ceremony will be held in Berlin in memory of the victims murdered by the NSU extreme right-wing terror group. This group is said to be responsible for the deaths of ten persons since the year 2000.
