B1 Certificate Spanish

The B1 language certificate is solely for submission to the University of Bremen.

Language level required: B1

Exam dates:

  • Tuesday, July 9, 2024, and
  • Tuesday, September 10, 2024

from 10:00 - 12:30, with a 30-minute break. Oral exams (15 minutes each) are expected to start at 1:00 p.m.

Fee: €40 (candidates who can prove they have registered for the DELE certificates are not required to pay this fee)

Registration deadline: 1 week before the exam date at the latest by sending an email to the email address above

Results announced and certificates: around 3 days after the date of the exam

Candidates may withdraw from the exam up to 24 hours before it is due to take place. Under no circumstances is it possible to withdraw any later than this and have the exam fee reimbursed.

Content:

Written exam:

  • Reading comprehension: answer questions on informational texts (multiple choice questions). Select information from a text using a series of questions.
  • Written expression: write short texts with a simple structure and of a practical nature, e.g. write a note, postcard, etc. (80 to 100 words).
  • Listening comprehension: the candidates hear 4 recorded exercises consisting of simple dialogues or information and have to answer multiple choice questions about these texts.
  • Grammar and vocabulary: match different statements to the correct situations. Identify words or expressions which do not fit the context of the text. Complete a gap-fill text (multiple choice).

Oral exam:

The candidate takes part in a short dialogue with the examiner about an everyday situation. They will also have to briefly explain their motivation for wanting to study.

Language competence based on number of years studied at school

The time you spent learning a language at school may be used as proof of language competence for the levels A1 - B1 only. Unless your Abitur certificate expressly states the language level you have achieved, it is not possible to use it to demonstrate foreign language competence at levels B2 - C2. Validity of language certificates: as stated on the particular document/ certificate.

If you did your Abitur in year 12 (G8)

  • A1: at least 1 year
  • A2: at least 3 years
  • B1: at least 6 years

through until year 11

If you did your Abitur in year 13 (G9)

  • A1: at least 1 year
  • A2: at least 3 years
  • B1: at least 7 years

through until year 12
