Leon Marquardt initiated the research stay with the aim of conducting intensive on-site data collection and further exploring the Estonian startup ecosystem. Because his research is concerned with the development of startup ecosystems, Estonia is a particularly interesting case, as one of the special characteristics of the small country is an extremely high level of digitization, which enables the local ecosystem to overcome resource bottlenecks.
