From 2nd to 6th of July 2018 I had the opportunity to visit Dr. Kenneth Kroenlein and the Thermodynamic Research Center (TRC) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
During my stay, experimental binary vapor liquid equilibria (VLE) data obtained in Bremen by isobaric ebulliometry were critically evaluated in order to determine systematic errors within the experimental data and to improve the existing data processing routines. Therefore, the “Thermo Data Engine” (TDE) and “Reference Fluid Thermodynamic and Transport Properties Database” (REFPROP), both developed by NIST, were applied. Hereby, the error of the ebulliometer itself was detected, which could not be considered before.
Besides, I had the chance for networking and fruitful discussions about data processing with the people from TRC work group and I received a very useful feedback about the work I have done so far and how I can improve both my experimental technique and the data processing. Additionally, a project in collaboration with the TRC workgroup was started.
