Kevins poster dealt with the full-field validation of reactive Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations using the NMR technique. For this, a novel catalytic reactor design was proposed consisting of a 3D printed alumina Periodic Open Cell Structure (POCS). Thus, both the temperature field (partly) as well as the species concentration of reactants and products can be measured in the NMR tomograph. Such a full-field validation can gain new insights into chemical reactors and the accuracy of detailed CFD simulations (more about the project).
This year’s AIChE Annual Meeting took place in Phoenix, AZ, with thousands of chemical engineers from around the globe. In the CRE poster session, about 150 poster presenters took part.
