DAAD Supports the Alumni Association

The good news reached us just before Christmas. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will be supporting the work of our association and the University of Bremen with a co-funding of close to 20,000 Euro. ‘Alumni digital’ is the name of the approved concept that is supposed to mainly develop formats for international online events.

In spring 2020, we hosted a very well-attended online panel discussion about the COVID-19 crisis in Africa. On the panel were the Research Ambassadors from South Africa and Tanzania as well as researchers from the University of Bremen. This event model will now be developed further to incorporate new formats and topics that address the scientific discourse on the realization of the UN sustainable development goals. Additionally, we would like to integrate the association’s international chapters more closely. As one result, we will draw up guidelines for digital events.
