Inaugural Board Meeting; Business Plan Devised for 2019
After having been elected in November 2018, the newly-elected board came together for its inaugural board meeting. The course for the upcoming four years had to be set in various areas.
Dr. Tim Nesemann remains chairman of the board. Christoph Sodemann and Ute Treptow were elected as his deputies. Dr.-Ing. Reinhard Ahlers remains treasurer; Dr. Kateryna Vatsella continues as secretary. The work of the new board is planned to revolve around three guiding principles: 1. Membership growth, 2. assume social responsibility by supporting projects as well as initiate and guide discussion processes, and 3. the expansion of offers for members outside of Bremen and internationally by supporting regional groups (in Germany) and Chapters (internationally).
A concrete plan for 2019 was made as well. Among others, the business plan for 2019 has been devised. For 2019, support of projects amounting to 40,000 Euro is included. “The funds are channeled into projects for improved teaching, the promotion and job orientation of students, and student projects as well as the practical dialogue of science with politics and the population,” Christoph Sodemann, first deputy chairman of the board, explained. “The membership fees enable us to support projects that are important for the university and its students. Our members, who have spent a formative part of their lives at the university, are thus given the chance to give something back,” Sodemann continues. “The commitment of the alumni at our university is easily perceivable because it starts where small projects can have a remarkable effect. I am very grateful to the members of Alumni der Universtität Bremen e. V.,” Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernd Scholz-Reiter, Rector of the University of Bremen, stated.
