On October 28, 2020, the federal and state governments discussed measures to contain the pandemic. Bavarian Radio interviewed Jutta Günther on the economic consequences of the pandemic and the design of relief measures.
Following the signs of an economic recovery in the third quarter of the current year, the renewed lockdown will place a heavy burden on the economy, especially on micro-enterprises and the self-employed, the hotel and restaurant industry, and the sports, cultural and leisure sectors. The recovery will lose momentum and insolvencies will be unavoidable. In view of the situation, further support measures will be necessary to cushion the hardships. Investment aid should definitely help to drive structural change and new technologies.
