The article by Claudia Harsch, Valeriia Koval, Voula Kanistra and Ximena Delgado-Osorio, published in Assessing Writing, has been selected by the journal editors for the Editors' Choice list.


Registration for intensive courses in 2025 is open

In February and March 2025, the Language Center is offering intensive courses for nine languages. Registration is now open. The tutoring program for independent language learning will also take place during the semester break.


Arabic Language Day 2024

On December 16, the SZHB is offering an afternoon of language activities at the central library to celebrate Arabic Language Day.


Languages and Countries Quiz at SLZ Uni / GW2

On Monday, December 9th, we will be hosting a quiz about languages and countries. We hope to see many participants – the questions will be asked in English.

Dr. Anja Kamp (HSB), Jeremy Hookway (SZHB/HSB) and Prof. Dr. Stefan Veltel (HSB) received the 'Bremer Hochschulpreis für ausgezeichnete Lehre' 2024 on November 5th.


“How to do language tandems": an event on Nov. 14th at the SLZ

This interactive info session on Thursday, November 14th at 4:00 p.m. will provide tips and insights into learning in language tandems and is aimed at both newcomers to tandems and those who are already learning in a tandem.


Language cafés during the winter semester 2024/2025

Our language cafés are up and running for eight different languages. Designed for students, the language cafés are also completely free of charge.


Keynote address by Prof. Claudia Harsch

At the EALTA Conference in Belfast last June, Prof. Claudia Harsch gave a keynote address on the topic “Looking at the past, present and future of the CEFR beyond Europe - from the CEFR to a CGFR?”. The talk can now be viewed online.
