Confirmation on successful participation in the qualification programme for doctoral students of MAPEX Centre for Materials and Processes, University of Bremen/ Information on data protection, according to Article 13 GDPR (DS-GVO in German)

We hereby inform you of the processing of your personal data by the University of Bremen.

The University of Bremen collects and processes personal data in order for various offers and services to be provided. The university is a corporation under public law and is subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Bremen Implementation Act.

2. Purpose of data processing

Your data will be solely used for the preparation of a Certificate of Participation in the MAPEX qualification programme for doctoral students and a Transcript of Records.

3. Legal basis of data processing

The legal basis is your consent according to Article 6, Paragraph 1 a) GDPR.                                                                                                                                                                  

4. Obligation of provision                                                  

You are not obliged to provide data, however, to receive a certificate of successful participation in the MAPEX qualification programme and the Transcript of Records is only possible if you provide us required details. Alongside with your name, these details include:

• For receiving a Certificate of Participation and the Transcript of Records: your email address
• The qualifications you have specified and selected in 5 milestone areas. These include:
  • Bibliographic information on published articles incl. DOI
  • Year and date details on qualifications received and participation in workshops, training courses, internship periods, trade fairs, conferences, other scientific or science communication events, as well as research stays
  • Annual or semester details on selforganised academic workshops and courses, self-conducted lectures as well as academic supervision activities for students
  • Information on duration and scope of performance in relation to attended workshops, courses of further education and language courses
  • Titles of published works, of conference and poster presentations, or of submitted applications for research funding
  • Names and locations on events, such as fairs or conferences, as well as courses of further education, workshops, teachings and language courses
  • Official name of research groups and embedded institutions collaborated with in the context of research stays
  • Research topics during research stays
  • Name of funding institutions for research funds
  • Name of an institution providing an internship
  • Names of persons or institutions providing workshops, courses of further education or language courses
• Furthermore, an upload of documents confirming the qualifications, e.g. in the form of official certificates, performance certificates or confirmation letters, is required for an internal check on accuracy of the qualifications entered by the participant. 

The disclosure of further, optional data is not required and is voluntary.

5. Right to withdraw consent

The consent given for reception of information and processing of collected data as per Article 6, Paragraph 1 a) GDPR, can be withdrawn at any time for future effect. Should this be the case, the data will no longer be processed and will be erased if no legal storage period regulations prevent this. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the legality of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation.

6. Storage period                                                                              

We will process your data until you inform us of your decision to cancel the subscription (informal notification sent to mapexprotect me ?!uni-bremenprotect me ?!.deor via the online form). After receipt of your cancellation, your saved data will be immediately erased if no legal storage period regulations prevent this.

• your date of birth (obligatory, when signing up for the programme)

8. Recipient of personal data

MAPEX Center for Materials and Processes (see address above) receives the data communicated via the online form and processes it as follows:

Your contact details are exclusively accessible to the MAPEX Center for Materials and Processes at the University of Bremen. Your data will only be used for the purpose of issuing a certificate of successful participation in the MAPEX qualification programme and the Transcript of Records.

9. Your rights

You have the following rights with regard to your personal data (in accordance with Articles 15 to 21 GDPR):

• Right of access
• Right to rectification
• Right to erasure
• Right to restriction of processing
• Right to data portability / Right to receipt of a copy

Additionally, you also have the right to object to data processing at any time. We will then no longer process your data unless there are direct legitimate grounds for processing or processing serves the purpose of enforcement, exertion or defense of legal claims.

10. Lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority
