Art and intoxication – do they go together? In Bremen, they do!
The 8th Kunstrausch at the Bremen Kunsthalle proves that young creativity meets culture. On January 24th, students from the University of Bremen organized a unique event in collaboration with the Kunsthalle, providing them with valuable hands-on experience in event and project management. Visitors were captivated by innovative concepts, live acts, and interactive activities – all with an admission fee of your choice.

"Kunstrausch" is an annual cultural event held at Kunsthalle Bremen, organized in collaboration with students from the University of Bremen as part of a General Studies course. The event aims to engage a young audience with art and present the Kunsthalle as a vibrant and social space.

By working closely with Kunsthalle professionals from the fields of marketing, press, and education, students from various cultural studies programs gain valuable insights into event and project management by allowing them to independently plan a cultural event. In the organizational process, students often divide responsibilities such as art mediation, marketing, press relations, and event planning, meeting regularly to coordinate. A student involved in organizing Kunstrausch 2023 emphasized the freedom in designing the event while still receiving support.

The program typically includes live performances such as poetry slams and interactive activities that encourage reflection. The artistic projects aim to open up new perspectives. This year, the Kunstrausch took place on January 24 and focused on the woodcuts of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, a key figure of German Expressionism. Alongside Kirchner’s works, the exhibition featured contemporary artists such as Benjamin Badock, Gabriela Jolowicz, and Thomas Kilpper, who engage with Kirchner’s woodcuts in their own works. Additionally, pieces by students from the University of the Arts Bremen and the "Youth for Art" association were showcased.
