We warmly welcome Prof. Nazly Sánchez Peña from the Universidad de Cauca, Colombia, to our working group. As part of a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Ms. Sánchez Peña will be working from November 2024 to July 2025 on the evaluation of the complexation capacity of deep eutectic solvents (DES) and the application of dielectrophoretic separation (DEP) for gold recovery from ore concentrates and mining waste in the Cauca region, Colombia.
The project focuses on the research questions of which DES can be efficiently used for the separation of gold from mining tailings and ore concentrates and how efficient DEP is in separating gold particles from ore concentrates and mining tailings.
