IPP PhD researchers visited United Nations institutions and NGOs in Geneva

Last week our two PhD scholars Sudeepa Khanal and Sophie Stützle represented our department at the German Alliance for Global Health Research (GLOHRA) academy field trip to Geneva

Two of our associated PhD scholars, Sudeepa Khanal and Sophie Stützle, participated in the GLOHRA field trip to Geneva from 16 to 20 September 2024, along with 20 other PhD and post-doc candidates from across Germany and Switzerland. The objectives of the trip were to gain exposure to the work of international organizations in the health sector and to network with  people who share similar interests The week was enriched by discussions on global health challenges, ranging from policymaking to the implementation of solutions in areas like Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), mental health, digital health, and sustainable health systems.
During the trip, they visited renowned organizations including the World Health Organization, Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, UNICEF, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), FIND, stakeholders at Campus Biotech, and the World Federation of Public Health Associations. Sudeepa's research focus on climate and health policy was explored in discussions on sustainable health systems and global policy transitions, while Sophie's interest in neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) was picked up during in-depth exchanges with DNDi.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the hosts for their inspiring presentations and for offering a behind-the-scenes look into their critical work.
