Under the direction of Dr. Akif Hilal Öztürk, DAAD lecturer at Istanbul Kültür University and presiding judge at the District Court of Bremen (currently on leave), the delegation of the Istanbul Kültür University consisted of 16 students and four researchers. They visited the University of Bremen on Thursday, 27 July 2023 on the invitation of the designated Dean of Studies and Erasmus coordinator Prof. Dr. Christoph U. Schmid, PhD. The students of the Istanbul Kültür University showed great interest in the newly established English-language Master's degree "Transnational Law" starting in the upcoming winter semester 2023/24. For the lecturers, the conclusion of an Erasmus+ agreement and further possibilities of cooperation were of particular interest. Prof. Schmid, who is currently a visiting professor at the University of Sassari, welcomed the students via ZOOM and participated in an exchange with the lecturers about future cooperation perspectives. As a first step, it was agreed to work towards the conclusion of an Erasmus+ agreement. At the same time, the students were guided through the facilities of the faculty and the law library and were enthusiastic about the opportunities at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bremen. The visit of the delegation of the Istanbul Kültür University is another small step in the endeavor to increase the internationalization of the Faculty of Law. The future Dean of Studies and Erasmus coordinator Prof. Schmid, as well as the Erasmus coordinator Kerstin True-Biletski and Tobias Pinkel, LL.M., the faculty’s international coordinator, who participated as delegation of the University of Bremen in a brainstorming session on possibilities for cooperation, expressed their hope that the initial visit will result in further initiatives.
