Prof. Dr. Jörg Schnitzler, LL.M. Eur.
Director of the Social Court Bremen
From 1990 to 1996 I studied law at the University of Bremen. My studies in the focus area of social law had a decisive influence on my professional career. Following my postgraduate internship, part of which I completed at the Social Court Rostock, further studies at the Europe College in Hamburg and a Master programme of European Law at Hamburg University, I worked as a research assistant fro Prof. Dr. Robert Francke at Bremen University (doctorate in 2003: "The law of the healtcare professions - overview, concept, constitutional questions"). In 2002, I was appointed as a social court judge; first at the Social Court Hannover, 2006 at the Social Court Oldenburg. In 2007 I was tranferred to the Social Court Bremen and in the same year to the Land Social Court Lower Saxony/Bremen. In 2011, I was appointed as a judge at the Land Social Court Lower Saxony/Bremen; since March 2016, I am Director of the Social Court Bremen. I have remained attached to Bremen University: since 2010 I am a lecturer for social law at the Faculty of Law (lecturing assignments in the winter semesters 2010/2011, 2011/2012, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, in the summer semesters 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). In addition, I have continued to publish in legal journals (e.g. Die Besonderheiten des Sozialverfahrensrechts, NJW 2019, S. 9 – 13; Sozialrecht, eine kurze Einführung mit kleinen Fällen, JuS 2019, S. 215 – 219; Warum Sozialrecht? ZFSH/SGB 2019, 83 – 86; Sozialverfahrensrecht ►► (fast forward), JURA 2019, 359 – 367).
