  The Vertex 80v is used to measure the thermo-optical properties according to the ESA standard ECSS-Q-ST-70-09C „Measurements of thermo-optical properties of thermal control materials“. Both parameters, absorption and emissivity, are measured by determining the spectral hemispherical reflectivity by using a intergrating sphere.
