The conference was organised by the University of Bremen by Professors Pia Lange, Konstanze Plett, Ursula Rust and Angie Schneider as well as the Bremen University of Applied Sciences by Professor Bettina Graue.
The conference aimed to examine the latest nominal developments towards gender equality in law, on the one hand, and on the other, it provided an overview of the range and diversity of gender research from a legal perspective. Around thirty years after a conference and symposium on "Women Lawyers at Universities – Women's Rights in Research and Teaching" were held in Bremen in October 1994 and February 1995, the event also demonstrated how the issue of women’s rights has developed into the issue of gender rights in the law.
