UBlogs (Login) is the blog farm of the University of Bremen (based on Wordpress and Buddypress) and is operated by the ZMML. As with Stud.IP, registration takes place via the user name and password of the university account. Every member of the university - whether students, teachers or other employees - can create their own blogs.

The possible uses for blogs are manifold, e.g. for courses, lecture series, research seminars, knowledge blogs, information portals, portfolios.

FAQ

Log in to the blog website of the University of Bremen with your university account user name (exampleprotect me ?!uni-bremenprotect me ?!.de; user name: example) and the corresponding password.

To hand over a blog (e.g. when you leave the University of Bremen), at least one other person must have the role of administrator. To change the role for users already registered for the blog, go to "Users" in the "Dashboard" and then "All users". Select the user to whom you want to transfer the blog. A drop-down menu opens under "Change role to ...", in which you select "Administrator". You can change the role by pressing the adjacent "Change" button.

If you want to give the blog to a person who is not yet registered as a user for the blog, go to "Users" in the "Dashboard" and then "Add User". Enter the user name in the field provided and select "Administrator" as the role. Confirm your action with the "Add User" button. If you want to enter more than one new administrator, use "Add Bulk Users", enter the user names in the free box in new, separate lines, select "Administrator" as the role and confirm the action with the "Add User Bulk" button.

There are five different roles in the blog: Subscriber, Contributor, Author, Editor and Administrator. Different roles come with different settings and options for what you can change and create on the blog. You can find an overview here (please note that the roles "Follower" and "Reader" are not available in the UBlogs and the role "Email subscriber" is the same as the role "Subscriber").

To protect your blog with a password, activate the "Password Protected" plugin. Tick the "Enabled" (Aktiviert) box next to "Password Protected Status". Set a password and confirm your new password at the bottom of the page using the "Save changes" (Änderungen speichern) button.

I would like to use a specific function, a specific plugin To activate a specific plugin, you will find the menu item "Plugins" in the "Dashboard". Check the box next to the plugin you want to activate for your blog and then click on "Apply". The desired plugin is now activated.

If the plugin you want to use is not available, please send an email to blogsprotect me ?!elearning.uni-bremenprotect me ?!.de. We will then check whether the desired plugin can be used, i.e. whether it can be offered in the blogs free of charge and in compliance with data protection regulations.

As soon as your university account is deleted, all your created content and blogs on the blog farm UBlogs will be deleted. As soon as at least one other person has the role of "administrator" in a blog, the blog will remain.

In order to preserve the content, the person concerned should be removed from the blog independently before leaving the university. To do this, click on "All users" under "Users" in the "Dashboard". If you move the cursor under the user name, "Remove" will be displayed. As soon as you remove a person from the blog, you will be asked whether the created content, pages, etc. should be retained and transferred to another person. Now select the person who is to take over the content and then click on "Remove deletion".
