Fachgebiet Technische Thermodynamik

The research group has been in existence since founding the Faculty in 1982. In academic education the research group offers teaching in the fundamentals of technical thermodynamics and a comprehensive variety of courses in the field of thermodynamics in general, heat transfer and relatet equipment as well as in optical measurement techniques and thermal energy technology. A focus of research in this field is placed on the development of spectroscopic analysis methods, the characterization of complex fluids and kinetics of phase transitions, as well as on evaporator technology and seawater desalination. In addition, classical physico-chemical methods and state-of-the-art laser-optical measurement technology as well as experimental facilities from laboratory to pilot plant scale and comprehensive simulation programs are used to investigate, both, fundamental and application-oriented issues.
