The paper with the title “Bureaucratic discrimination in electoral authoritarian regimes: Experimental evidence from Russia” is based on a randomized correspondence experiment in 70 Russian regions that was carried out in the spring of 2017. In the experiment, 1504 emails with a brief request for information and various treatments were sent to 188 investment promotion agencies. While entrepreneurs affiliated with the ruling party “United Russia” were 11% more likely to get an answer, entrepreneurs affiliated with the opposition party “Yabloko” received 18% fewer answers than the control group.
