Zentraler Backup

The Center for Networks supports you in backing up workstation computers on campus and offers you the possibility to save your documents on a central backup server.

Access to the server backup.zfn.uni-bremen.de must be authorized once for each university account. For this please send an e-mail to the account administration.

Typically, you have 500 GB available for backups. The storage space can be increased if there is a justified need - but in any case we ask you to use the space provided carefully and only to selectively save important data there.

The server can be reached in the file manager with \\backup.zfn.uni-bremen.de\USERNAME on campus and can also be used via sftp/ssh.

Note: If a computer has been contaminated by viruses or if the old hard drive has errors, it is safer to reinstall programs and the operating system. For this reason, only user data should be saved on the backup server.

There is no backup from the backup server. The following instructions describe how the storage space can be used as a drive: Anleitung Backup-Laufwerk
