Instructions for setting up WLAN access under Chrome OS

Note

Please note, the following instructions describe how to set up the eduroam network using the geteduroam app.

When you are asked for the user data, pay attention to upper/lower case and enter your user name (no aliases) including @uni-bremen.de.

For security reasons, the WiFi password is not identical to the password of your university account. Students set the password automatically when activating their university account, other users have to set the WiFi password once in the onlinetools.

If there is a problem, please contact us via e-mail at wlan@uni-bremen.de or at the IT-Servicedesk.

Step 1

This step requires an internet connection. On campus, the setup is possible via the Uni Bremen wireless network. The following steps can also be carried out from the home network.

The setup wizard can be found via the URL: https://wlan.uni-bremen.de/cat to find the setup wizard. When Chrome OS is selected as the operating system, an ONC file is offered for download.

Step 2

The ONC file you have just downloaded contains all relevant settings for the eduroam network and is mandatory for the next step.

Step 3

Call up the following URL via the Chrome browser: chrome://net-internals/#chromeos. Then select the previous file with 'Import ONC File' and import it into the system. ATTENTION: The import takes place without confirmation. The network is then successfully configured.

Step 4

The following points must be added to the configuration in the settings:

  • Username + @uni-bremen.de
  • WLAN password

The login only works with the WLAN password. Further information can be found in the above-mentioned notes.

Step 5

The connection to the wifi eduroam should work now.
