Job description

The Institute for Public Health and Nursing Research - IPP is a scientific institution at the Faculty 11 Human and Health Sciences at the University of Bremen with currently around 100 employees working in nine departments and three working groups. The IPP's tasks include research, teaching, counselling and scientific transfer in the fields of health and nursing research. The Group of Nursing Science Evaluation and Implementation Research conducts research on the development and evaluation of complex interventions to provide evidence-based nursing and healthcare. This includes, for example, the facilitation of informed decision-making by patients. To achieve this, we develop evidence-based health information for patients and training programmes for healthcare professionals.

The group has acquired a DFG-funded mixed-methods systematic review on the determinants of practice for decision coaching as an intervention to support informed decision-making by patients. In the project, a diverse team consisting of renowned international researchers at different career stages, patient representatives and practitioners from 6 countries and 4 continents are working together to conduct a mixed-methods systematic review as part of a co-creation approach. The new position holder will be responsible for conducting the mixed methods systematic review in the project. This includes the planning, conduct and publication of the systematic review. Furthermore, the position holder will support the project management of the project and has the opportunity to write a doctoral thesis.

What you can expect:

  • Opportunity for academic qualification ("PhD") and associated opportunities for further training in terms of content and methodology in research and teaching
  • Possibility of self-organised work within a committed and friendly team
  • Integration into national and international networks
  • Attendance at conferences

Requirements

  • A university degree (Master's/University Diploma) in nursing science or public health/health sciences or a related field with a very good or good grade.
  • Skills in conducting systematic reviews
  • Good expertise in the methods of evidence-based nursing/medicine/healthcare
  • Willingness to continue training in qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Excellent written and oral English skills
  • Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration

Desirable:

  • Completed vocational training and professional experience as a nurse
  • Independence and organisational skills
  • Reliable, goal- and team-oriented way of working
  • Knowledge of shared decision making and decision coaching
  • Awareness of gender- and diversity-sensitive teaching and research
