Welcome Breakfast 25.09.2023
On September 25, the new exchange students gathered for a welcome breakfast in the university Mensa. The head of the International Office, Dr. Baethge-Assenkamp, and Vice-Rector for Internationality, Academic Qualification and Diversity, Dr. Mandy Boehnke, wished the new arrivals a wonderful time in Bremen. Ms. Hasenmüller, Erasmus Project Manager introduced the Erasmus Office of the University of Bremen and then asked the students to introduce themselves as well. She named one after the other the 35 countries of origin, in between such exotic countries as Indonesia, Santa Lucia or Vietnam. The students from named countries stood up and were greeted with applause. The largest group this winter semester are the students from Spain (35), followed by the students from Turkey (19), France (15) and Italy (15). Dr. Yfantis from the Goethe Institute and Dr. Buschmann-Göbel from the University's Language Centre provided information about the German language courses. Then the Erasmus initiative introduced itself. Afterwards there was breakfast and then the campus tours in small groups.

During the three orientation weeks, the tutors at the Welcome Desk of the International Office support the new exchange students in completing the formalities at the beginning of the semester. Campus tours, library tours and introductory events in the departments are offered so that the new students can quickly find their way around. We are pleased to announce that almost all events during orientation weeks can once again be offered in a face-to-face format.
Exchange students can also take an intensive German course offered by the Goethe-Institut or participate in the Language Center's Tutor program during this time.
The Erasmus Initiative of the University of Bremen also offers many events to get to know each other.

After two years overshadowed by the pandemic, Welcome Desk is back in presence. We are very happy to welcome many international students in Bremen. We hope that next semester the popular welcome breakfast will take place again. This year we would have to do without it. All the important information was provided in the Zoom sessions.
