Continuity and change in the Rectorate of the University of Bremen: On 14th November 2012, the Academic Senate (AS) of the University of Bremen moved that the University Rector, Prof.Bernd Scholz-Reiter, be recommended to appoint Prof.Kurosch Rezwan to the post of Vice Rector for Research and Young Academics. The motion was passed with no dissenting vote and three abstentions. Rezwan, who is a professor in the Faculty of Production Engineering, succeeds Prof. Rolf Drechsler. In the course of its meeting the AS, the University’s central self-governing body, also unanimously moved to reappoint the two Vice Rectoresses, Yasemin Karaka?o?lu and Heidi Schelhowe.
Prof.Heidi Schelhowe from the Department of Computer Science is Vice Rectoress for Academic Teaching and Learning and Prof.Yasemin Karaka?o?lu, Professor of Intercultural Education, is the Vice Rectoress for Intercultural and International Affairs. The two professors have been members of the University management team since 1st April 2011. The three new periods of office begin after being officially approved by the University Rector on 1st April 2013. They will remain in office until 31st March 2015.
