Producing radio for fellow students. The “Campus Radio” project at the University of Bremen has existed for several years. Once a month, students broadcast live programs from inside the University and produce critical reports on current topics surrounding student and university life, university politics, and culture. The next program will come from the MZH building on Wednesday 7th March 2012, when Campus Radio will be on air between 6.00 and 8.00 p.m. You can receive Campus Radio on UKW 92.5 or via live-stream www.campusradio.uni-bremen.de.
This time, among other things, students Tanja Gießmann and Marike Deitschun will be reporting on the university group which calls itself “Go Ahead”. This group drums up support for young people in South Africa. Listeners will learn about the Bremen event “Aus.ARTen” – a cultural festival to be held at the end of April, during which creative minds from Bremen and surroundings will have the opportunity to show what they are capable of on stage. The next program will also have a feature on the Prüfungsamt [Examinations Office]. You can also listen to the latest music releases which people in Bremen will soon be dancing to. “Of course, there will be another spot on the best tips for spare time and leisure activities, and much more”, says Marike Deitschun.
Everyone can take part
The project was conceived more than ten years ago as result of a cooperation project involving Radio Bremen, and the universities of Bremen and Oldenburg. Meanwhile, it has become integrated as a project module in the Department of Cultural Studies. It can also be attended by students of General Studies.
Anyone who fancies their capability as a reporter, author, or co-moderator can take part”, says project instructor, Klaus Jochims. “Campus Radio” is supported by Studentenwerk Bremen, the AStA, Radio Weser.TV, and the media office of the University of Bremen.
